| Department of Design |
|
| The Department of Design, which was founded as the national design conservatory under the belief that
economies cannot bloom without cultural nutrients, is the only institution in Korea that teaches design from a
studio-based approach. The Department of Design believes that the role of a designer is to create new values
and culture while considering the interactive relationship between human beings and their environment. Therefore,
the Department emphasizes a balance between theories and practices as theories help students to understand their
environment while practices make students adjust easily to new environment. In the Department of Design, students
can major in visual communication design, transportation design, or interaction design. However, the curriculum
encourages students to crossover various design fields and invent new design solutions. Students will exchange
their ideas freely with each other, and the class will cover all the areas of design from humanities, social
science, graphics, design techniques, and contemporary digital environment. |
