| Department Of Traditional Music |
|
| As a guardian of traditional music in Korea, the Department of Traditional Music aims to nurture a student
with competence in musical composition and performance that are suitable to the 21st century. To achieve this
aim, the Department of Traditional Music emphasizes a profound appreciation of Korean traditional music as
well as technical proficiency in a large repertoire. Students can major in instrumental music, vocal music, or
in composition. Instrumental music majors will get intensive trainings to achieve the highest level of
performance, and vocal music majors will take opera trainings that are designed to develop a new type of the
genre. Students majored in composition will be encouraged to extend the boundary of Korean traditional music
into dance music, background music, and practical music. |
