Students should take this course every semester for two years upon their admission. However, if a student passes the final qualifying exam which is given every semester, the student does not have to take all four courses. Student who passed the final qualifying exam earlier than other students will get a grade of A+ for the course, and should take another courses for the substitution.

Students participating in this course will make several groups of ensembles. The class will be held separately group-by-group, and the grade will be given according to their public performance at the end of a semester.

While the Applied Study course is a one to one private lesson on the specific musical instruments of one's own major, a workshop course is carried on in the form of public discussions. Students will choose some important pieces in this era, and analyze their musical contexts according to the viewpoints of the composers. Sound Syntheses

This course is provided to understand the fundamental sound theories and to produce electronic sounds based on these understanding on sound. At first, students will learn about the analog sound synthesis by using Nord Modular and Roland System 100M, and then they will study sound samplings by using K2500, 2600.
Real-time Control

In this course, students will learn about how to control audio data, MIDI and light equipments by MAX/MSP and KYMA in real-time. A study on a gesture input by a sensor will be also practiced.
Practice in Performance Technique

Graduates students from the School of Drama and the School of Dance will participate in this course because this course deals with various real-time interactive techniques that are usually used in theatre, dance, or mime. Graduate students from the School of Music who wants to take this course should take the Real-time Control course first.
Computer Music Programming

Students will study about several software programs such as LISP, and Music in C that are generally used in music studios. The production of the creative music software is given to an individual student as a final assignment.
Acoustic Psychology

Students will learn about the basic psychological aspects of the way a human perceives sound. Sometimes, students are asked to make a program for the acoustic experiments.
Musical Acoustics

From the basic physics of musical instruments to the analysis of stereo sound, this course deals with all the acoustic sounds related to musical performance.
Studio Technique

All the advanced studio techniques such as recording, editing, mastering, and controlling a console table will be learned. Live recording in the theater will be one important requisite of this course.
