Department of Playwriting
The educational programs of the Department of Playwriting are designed to develop playwriting skills as a playwright. The core curriculum of the first two years covers the entire spectrum of the liberal arts: myth, history, literature, psychoanalysis, and sociology. Besides these fundamental courses, students will take courses on (1) theatre history to gain a broad perspective on theatre; (2) creative writing to obtain a descriptive and observable eye for a human condition; and (3) basic acting, gestures, sounds, light, and colors to gain general knowledge on the mechanism of staging a text. Juniors and seniors of the department will have more intensive lessons on playwriting under a one to one tutorial system. With the excellent studio facilities, students can work cooperatively with students and faculties from other departments and schools.
