Registration |
| All applicants who have been newly admitted to KNUA as well as all currently enrolled students
must register in person during the registration periods as indicated in the academic calendar
(Freshman: January; Others: February for the Spring Semester and August for the Fall Semester). They should
be prepared to pay tuition and fees according to the payment schedule in order to proceed with registration. |
| KNUA has the Tuition Installment Plan, which provides a way to pay educational expenses
through two-time installments, instead of paying one lump sum. No interest is charged for the installments,
and students can pay the half of the tuition during the regular registration period at the beginning of
the semester and the rest half during the second month of the semester. Students who wish to pay the
tuition according to this Tuition Installment Plan should apply to the Administrative Office of the School. The
application deadline for the Tuition Installment Plan is January for the Spring Semester and July for
the Fall Semester. |
| The maximum registration allowance per semester is 19 credits for undergraduate students and 12
credits for graduate students. Students who had average grade points of 3.7 (A-) at the previous semester
can register for 21 credits (or 15 credits for graduate students). To be a scholarship candidate, an
undergraduate student should take at least 16 credits, and a graduate student should take at least 9
credits. During the second week of regular classes, students are permitted to add/drop courses via
computer by themselves, and should submit a Change of Class Form to the Office of Teaching Assistants.
Students who previously had the grade of 'U' or 'F' for the compulsory courses should register for
the courses again. Students may also re-register for the courses that they were poorly performed and
got grades below than D+. |

Permission to Take Credits at Another Institution |
| Students can take appropriate course work credits at another institution. However, there are several requirements to take credits at another institution. First, the course that a student wishes to take should have a relevant course at KNUA that the Dean of the School permits. Second, the student should pass either written or oral examination to transfer the credits to his or her overall KNUA grade report. Third, undergraduate student can take maximum grades of 12 at another institution while graduate students in two-year program can take 6 credits. Fourth, students who wish to take course work at another institution must report it to the Department two weeks previous to the regular registration period, with an application form and an academic report from the institution that the student took the course. Finally, the course of over 2.7 (B-) will be only considered for the credit transfer. |
Permission to Take Credits through Performance Activities |
| Students enrolled at KNUA can take appropriate course work credits through performance activities. These include 1) annual university performance events, 2) community service performance activities that the Committee of Faculty of the Department permits, and 3) participation in the performance events that are held in other Schools of KNUA. The Committee of Faculty of the Department will decide the pertinence of the student's activities, and credits taken through performance activities can be counted over maximum registration allowance per semester. A student wishing to take course credits through performance activities should report it to the Administrative Office of the School one week before he or she joins the performance, and submit a Performance Activity Credits Permission Form to the Office of Academic Affairs during the regular registration period next semester. Like credits taken at another institution, credits taken through performance activities will be reported as 'S (Satisfactory)' and will not be applied to the average grade points. |

Leave of Absence |
| Students desiring an extended leave of absence from their studies for professional, medical, or personal reasons must make a written request to the Department chair no later than the deadline indicated in the academic calendar. In case of a medical reason, students should add a written medical diagnosis. No leave of absence may exceed four consecutive semesters for undergraduate students and two or three consecutive semesters for graduate students in two-year or in three-year program. Students returning from a leave absence must submit a Returning Form to the Department chair during the registration period for leave absence students. Students who do not return school after the period of allowed leave absence will be removed from the School. However, removed students, with their late registration or payment, can be accepted once within one year from their removal if there is a vacant space at the Department at the moment. |

Change of Major |
| Students who wish to change to a major other than the one to which they were officially admitted or are currently registered must submit an application form and a copy of academic record to the Dean's Office, with the approval of the Department chair in which student's are currently registered. Only sophomore and junior students of an average grade of 2.7 (B-) are allowed to change their majors, and students who wish to change their majors must apply during the first week of each semester. Students who have changed their major must take all the required courses in the newly registered Department. |
Second Major |
| KNUA students may take a second major. The same requirements apply to the second major as to the first. Students who wish to take a second major should have freshman academic record of at least 3.3 (B+), and should submit an application form, an academic record, and required documentaries to the Department chair at the beginning of each semester during their sophomore and junior years. For the second major, students should take 24 credits and meet all the requirements that the Department chair requests. Also, the same course cannot be applicable to first and second major. |
Grading System |
| KNUA awards credit for studies on the basis of regular attendance and satisfactory completion of all assignment and examinations. At the close of each semester, students will receive a cumulative grade report of their work, and when there is an error on the report, the students should submit a Grade Correction Form, a written request of the course faculty, and a specific documentary evidence within four weeks. Students whose average grade point is under 2.7 will be warned by the School. Undergraduate students who get three academic warnings will be expelled from KNUA, and for the graduate students, two academic warnings. |
