Home > About KNUA > Seven Special Features of KNUA
Founded on an increased demand for specialized arts
     education
KNUA is a perfect place for a talented youth who wants to become a professional artist in the future. A talented young artist needs to be prepared both theoretically and practically, but the arts curriculums in Korea used to weave loosely various scholarly ideas and technical practices together, and produced artists with no creative originality. On the contrary, KNUA adopts a conservatory system. A conservatory is the renowned educational system, which has been producing professional artists through earnest apprenticeship since the Middle Ages.

The renowned faculty members with advanced teaching
     methods
To be a leading arts institution in the world, KNUA exerts all efforts to secure the best faculty members of Korea. As a result, KNUA has excellent faculties with abundant experiences on stage or in a studio. Students will have one to one private lessons with our prominent professors while continuously participating in various workshops and seminars on artistic performances.

The newest equipments and facilities for the best arts
     education
From Steinway pianos of the School of Music to the outdoor art studio of the School of Visual Arts, KNUA is equipped with the finest instruments and facilities. This is, first of all, to meet the artistic capacity of faculties and students of our university, and furthermore, to unfold their talents as much as possible.

The unique and special academic curriculum that
     invigorates artistic performances
KNUA has developed its own academic curriculum, which highly concerns the active and spontaneous participation of students. Though the offered classes are different from department to department and student to student, the general curriculum is consisted of one to one private lessons, group discussions, workshops, joint productions, and field works.

Distinctive admission procedure and graduate system
To maintain the highest quality of education, our university pays special attention to applicants. As we are looking for students with artistic future and professionalism, we think highly of students' self-resolution to devote their lives to a lonely path of an artist. Of course, an exceptional talent and potential are other important aspects of a promising student. The entrance exam includes an aptitude test, a written test, an oral test and the overall senior high school records as well as several practical tests in one's own major. Graduates of KNUA get great attention from many artistic sites around the world because our university is known for its hard trainings. A student without high devotion and effort will not complete their courses. On the contrary, a student with talent and endeavors can nourish the ability-grade system and accelerated his or her graduation.

Six independent but correlative schools under the broad
     circle of arts
KNUA is consisted of six different schools: the School of Music, the School of Drama, the School of Film, TV & Multimedia, the School of Dance, the School of Visual Arts, and the School of Korean Traditional Arts. Each school has its own administrative organization and affiliated institutions as well as its own admission system. However, all six schools work together actively to achieve higher goals of arts, and under this cooperative spirit, various artistic experiments and products are produced.

Governmental support and public facilities outside the
     campus
As the only arts institution in Korea that is founded by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, KNUA has a promising future with its continuous outside support. As a governmental institution, students are also privileged to perform in various public facilities all over the country. Actually, one of our two university campuses is located between the Seoul Arts Center and the National Center for Korean Traditional Performing Arts, the cultural and artistic center of Seoul, Korea.
